The Psychology of Risk : Perception Vs Reality
Risk is ever-present in life, yet our perception of it is often distorted. We may freeze in fear or downplay real threats depending on context, familiarity, or social cues. For example, while stock market speculation feels risky when others do it, we often don’t view our own actions the same way—calling it “investment” instead. Similarly, groupthink and the brand power of marquee companies can lull us into ignoring real risks. Ultimately, the true danger lies not in the risk itself, but in our failure to perceive it accurately.
